Kano to revoke, take over abandoned houses in Kwankwasiyya, Amana cities

The Kano State Government has announced new measures concerning home owners at Kwankwasiyya and Amana cities following the expiration of the six-month grace period earlier granted for the completion and occupation of houses.

According to the government’s directive as posted by his media aide, Ibrahim Adam, an additional extension up to December 31, 2025, has been approved for property owners whose buildings are between 50% and 95% completed, to enable them to finalize construction and move in.

However, the government warned that owners who have failed to show reasonable commitment or have abandoned their properties risk losing their allocations. Such offers, the statement said, will be revoked, with the government taking over the affected houses, completing them, and refunding the owners accordingly.

In addition, any structure erected in violation of the approved building prototypes will be demolished to maintain the integrity, safety, and aesthetics of the state’s mega city projects.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the successful development of Kwankwasiyya and Amana Cities in line with approved urban planning standards.
