Niger NUJ Correspondents Chapel, loses member, Saka Bolaji of Daily Times Newspaper
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel has announced the death of its member, Saka Babatunde Bolaji, who died after a brief illness.
Until his death, he was the correspondent of Daily Times newspaper in Niger State.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chapel’s Chairman, Yakubu Mustapha Bina, and Secretary, Daniel Atori, it was stated that the late Saka, who died at his residence at Kongila Road, behind Jumai Babangida Aliyu Neonatal Hospital, Minna, has been taken to his hometown in Ilorin, Kwara State, where he will be buried according to Islamic rites.
According to the Chapel, “The late Saka, who began his journalistic journey with Kwara State-owned media outfit Herald Newspaper, worked for Standard Newspapers, The Monitor Newspaper, and Daily Times Newspaper.”
May the Almighty God grant his immediate family, as well as members of the media, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We pray God forgives his shortcomings and grants him Aljanatu Firdausi.
In a related development, the Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has condoled with the leadership and members of the Niger State Correspondents’ Chapel over the demise of its member, Saka Bolaji, popularly called Elder Saka.
In a condolence message through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the Governor described the death of Elder Saka as a great loss to the state, owing to his contributions, especially in enlightening and educating the populace on the policies and programmes of the government.
The governor enjoined the Correspondents’ Chapel to see the death of Elder Saka as an act of Allah and be consoled by the impact he made while he was alive.
He prayed Allah to grant the deceased Aljanatu Firdausi and comfort the Correspondents’ Chapel and the deceased’s family.
Bago also reaffirmed his continued support to the Correspondents’ Chapel as they forge ahead with their professional duties of disseminating information to the public.
