Nigerian Copyright Commission seizes books worth N2.3m in Benue


The Nigerian Copyright Commission, NCC, has carried out raids in three schools in Makurdi, the Benue State capital .

The office which went out for its routine monitoring and inspection impounded books in three schools within the Makurdi metropolis.

Acting on tip off, the NCC team visited and inspected five schools.

The team which was led by Thomas Mgbanngun had five NCC officers, seven police officers and one staff from Metropolitan Publishers Limited.

The schools visited were Four Square International School, ECWA Nursery and Primary School, Bright Brain Schoool, Assembly of God Nursery and Primary School and First Baptist Nursery and Primary School all in Makurdi.

According to the Team Lead, Thomas Mngbangun, nothing incriminating was found in Foursquare and First Baptist schools.

However, the trio of ECWA, Bright Brain and Assembly of God schools were raided in the operation code named “operation test the light”.

He said that three persons were arrested and seizures amounting to 2.3 million Naira were made.
