NRC to resume Warri-Itakpe train operations October 29
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Warri-Itakpe Train Service (WITS) will resume operations on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, following a temporary suspension to allow for essential maintenance and safety checks.
In a statement signed by Callistus Unyimadu, chief public relations officer, the Corporation said the suspension was necessary to carry out critical repairs, maintenance, and system checks on the track and rolling stock to guarantee the comfort, reliability, and safety of passengers.
According to the NRC, the online booking portal will open at 12 noon on Monday, October 27, 2025, 48 hours before resumption via https://nrc-fane.ng. Passengers are advised to secure their tickets early through the portal or at designated stations.
The statement added that operations will begin with seven coaches, comprising six standard classes and one business class. A revised train timetable reflecting temporary speed restrictions for safety and operational monitoring will also be released on Monday.
While apologising to passengers for the inconveniences caused by the service disruption, the NRC expressed appreciation for their patience and understanding during the period.
Kayode Opeifa, managing director, NRC reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient rail transport services across the country as the Warri-Itakpe passenger operations resume in full.
