‘PDP torn to shreds’ – Akpabio
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has cautioned politicians against joining the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, declaring that no sane person would defect to the opposition party.
He made the remark during the Senate’s screening of Joash Amupitan as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
His comment followed an exchange with the Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, who had observed that nobody contested the results of the last presidential election conducted in Ghana.
In response, Akpabio noted that former President Goodluck Jonathan also did not challenge the outcome of the 2015 presidential election conducted by INEC, adding that the Commission had continued to improve over the years.
However, Senator Dickson reminded Akpabio that the 2015 election was held under a PDP-led administration.
Reacting further, Akpabio said, “At that time, PDP was not torn to shreds, but there is no human being that is sane today that can even join such a platform.”
