Plateau PDP set for Elective Congress Saturday
The Plateau State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has fixed Saturday, October 25, 2025, to conduct its Elective Congress, where executives will be elected to oversee the affairs of the party.
The move, according to political analysts, is meant to avoid the mistake the party made ahead of the 2023 general election where the All Progressives Congress, APC, capitalized on the PDP crisis and lack of structure to claim all Assembly seats won by the PDP following the ruling of the Court of Appeal.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, who doubles as the Chairperson, Media and Publicity Sub-Committee of the PDP, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the party stated that the congress will take place at the WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du, Jos South Local Government Area, beginning at 10:00 a.m. prompt.
“The Plateau State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party wishes to inform its teeming members, supporters, and the general public that arrangements have been concluded for the conduct of the Plateau State Elective Congress scheduled to hold on Saturday, 25th October 2025,” the statement reads.
Ramnap stated that delegates from the 17 local government areas of the state, as well as key stakeholders and party faithful, are expected to participate in the Congress, which is “aimed at further strengthening the structures of the PDP and consolidating its unity and internal democracy.”
“The State Working Committee expresses appreciation to members of the party across the state for their continued loyalty, commitment, and peaceful conduct,” she noted.
The Commissioner added that the Congress would provide another opportunity for the party to reaffirm its collective resolve towards building a more vibrant and people-oriented PDP that will continue to champion the cause of development and good governance on the Plateau.
“All delegates and observers are advised to arrive early, conduct themselves peacefully, and adhere strictly to the party’s guidelines for the congress.
“The People’s Democratic Party remains steadfast in its vision of restoring hope, deepening democracy, and delivering dividends of governance to all citizens,” the statement concluded.
