Police disburse N66m to families of fallen officers in Plateau
Emmanuel Adesina, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command has presented cheques worth over N66 million to families of police officers who died in active service. The event took place at the Command Headquarters in Jos.
The cheques, issued under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme, totaled N66,269,268.99. The financial support was presented on behalf of Olukayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP.
In a statement by Alfred Alabo, the police public relations officer, Plateau state command, made available to journalists on Wednesday in Jos, said Adesina extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased officers, stating that while the money cannot replace their lost loved ones, it serves as a token of appreciation for their selfless service and sacrifice to the nation.

“The Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, today, has issued the Group Life Assurance/IGP Family Welfare Scheme cheques to families of deceased Police Officers who paid the ultimate price in the course of their service to the nation today, at the Command Headquarters, here in Jos.
“The CP on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, presented cheques amounting, Sixty-six Million, Two Hundred and Sixty-nine Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty-eight Thousand, Four Hundred and Ninety-nine Kobo (N66, 269,268.99k) only to families of Police officers who paid the supreme price while in serving the Nation”; the PPRO said.
He emphasised that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to the welfare of its personnel and their dependents. He assured the beneficiaries that all entitlements due to them would be paid in full without delay.
The Commissioner also advised the families to make wise use of the funds, urging them to invest in sustainable ventures that can support their livelihoods in the long term.
