Real Madrid: ‘Others will start disrespecting you’ – Alonso told to keep Vinicius away

Former Liverpool right-back, Steve Nicol, has told Real Madrid boss, Xabi Alonso, to keep Vinicius Jr out of his starting XI following the player’s outburst during El Clasico last weekend.

Real Madrid’s next league game is against Valencia, scheduled for November 1.

Vinicius Jr’s reaction after being removed in the second half during El Clasico last week drew the attention of football lovers.

Vinicius was subbed off in the 72nd minute for his countryman, Rodrygo, and he was visibly angry, making gestures at the camera.

The match ended 2-1 in favour of Real Madrid against Barcelona.

Speaking on ESPN, Nicol said it was time Alonso benched the Brazilian.

He added that many other players would start disrespecting the manager if nothing was done about Vinicius’ behaviour.

“Absolutely. I don’t think he has any choice; if he’s not seen doing anything, he’ll lose respect everywhere, including from the other players in the dressing room.

“This is 100% on Alonso. If he doesn’t bench him, I think everybody will lose a little respect for the coach,” Nicol said.

The Brazil international has played 13 games for Real Madrid in all competitions this season, scoring five goals and providing four assists.
