Statistics vital for economic growth, says Kaduna Statistician-General
Bukar Alhaji, the Statistician-General of Kaduna State, has described statistics as a vital tool for economic growth and development.
Alhaji stated this during an endurance walk organised by the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics to commemorate the World Statistics Day on in Kaduna.
He explained that the endurance walk was part of a series of activities aimed at creating awareness on the importance of accurate and harmonised data in effective policy formulation and implementation.
In his remarks, Mathew Alkali, director of Research and ICT at the bureau, emphasised that the importance of data in governance cannot be over emphasised.
He said that reliable data plays crucial role in helping government make informed decisions that impact citizens positively.
Also speaking, Hajiya Fatima Ibrahim, deputy director of Census and Survey, said the essence of marking the day was to sensitise the public on the significance of data in policy-making.

She urged organisations across the state to cooperate with the bureau by providing accurate information whenever required.
Ibrahim expressed appreciation to the Kaduna State Government for its continuous support and pledged to collaborate with all the relevant agencies to ensure data harmonisation for effective planning and development.
