Troops recover 45 stolen cows following ambush on cattle rustling gang in the Sokoto forest
Troops operating in Sokoto State have recovered a total of 45 cows alleged to have been rustled by a cattle rustling gang operating within the Kware–Tangaza forest corridor.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the police recovered the stolen cattle after receiving credible intelligence that the cattle rustlers were transiting with the cattle in the area.
The troops, as a result of the actionable intelligence, conducted an ambush along the Jaoji route in Wamakko LGA of Sokoto, which caused the suspected rustlers to run into the bush after sighting the troops, thereby abandoning the cattle.
The recovered cattle have been secured while efforts are ongoing to identify the cattle and return them to their differences.
Community leaders, including the village head of the affected community, have been invited to facilitate the identification and return of the cattle to their rightful owners.
