Yobe police arrest man for allegedly defiling 8-year-old girl
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Mika’ilu Abdulkarim, for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl in Garin Alkali, Bursari Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, a resident of Tsirma Village in Jigawa State, was said to have lured the minor, identified as Hafsat Babagana, who is reportedly not of sound mind with a promise of ₦500 before allegedly committing the act at the Garin Alkali Market.
Spokesman of the Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement issued in Damaturu, noting that the incident was reported by the victim’s father.
“Upon receiving the report, police operatives from Garin Alkali Division swiftly arrested the suspect. Both the victim and the suspect were taken to the Specialist Hospital, Gashu’a, for medical examination,” he said.
He added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Damaturu for further investigation, after which the suspect will be charged to court.
