‘You’ve lifted hopes of Nigerians’ – Peter Obi congratulates Eagles on victory over Lesotho

Former Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has congratulated Super Eagles of Nigeria on their 2-1 victory over Lesotho in the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers.

DAILY POST reports that the Super Eagles kept their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup alive, with a battling 2-1 win over Lesotho on Friday evening.

In a post on his verified X handle on Friday night, Obi said the senior football team had lifted the hopes of millions of Nigerians who are looking forward to their participating in the World Cup tournament.

“I wholeheartedly congratulate our Super Eagles on their well-deserved crucial victory against Lesotho.

“You have, by this very vital victory, once again lifted the hopes of millions of Nigerians who are looking forward to your participating in the great mundial in 2026.

“As you prepare for the final group match against the Benin Republic, I am confident in your ability to triumph. I pray that your hard work and determination will be rewarded, and we will proudly watch you on the World Cup stage.

“Well done, Super Eagles, once again, you have made Nigeria proud,” he wrote.
