2027: Atiku, Peter Obi, Adebayo, others to state position on opposition coalition against Tinubu – Lukman

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Salihu Lukman, has said that opposition presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Prince Adewale Adebayo and others will soon state their position on the coalition aimed at preventing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Lukman made the disclosure in a recent interview with Channels Television.
He said opposition parties have made progress in their bid to present a single candidate ahead of the January 16, 2027, presidential election.
According to him, the opposition parties have overcome major challenges that had hindered efforts to form a united coalition.
"We have succeeded beyond some of our expectations. I am sure the leadership of the opposition parties will begin to make public statements themselves to show the direction they are going on the opposition coalition," he said.
Lukman noted that his membership of the ADC had affected how opposition coalition members perceived and received him.
Recall that in April 2026, opposition parties held a summit in Ibadan to discuss presenting a single candidate against Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
However, with less than 100 days to the election, the plan is yet to materialise.
