2027: I can fix Nigeria, my Anambra record speaks – Peter Obi replies Datti

The presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has responded to Datti Baba-Ahmed’s claim that he cannot improve Nigeria if elected president.

Baba-Ahmed had stated that none of the leading candidates for the 2027 presidential election could fix Nigeria, including his former principal, Obi.

Speaking on Arise News, Obi said his record as governor of Anambra State showed that he could improve the country if elected president.

“As a governor, I was able to improve Anambra State in critical areas of development, and I can do the same in Nigeria. I’m definitely sure that if given the opportunity, first, I’ll bring civility in governance. I’ll be able to cut the cost of governance.

“I’ll be able to do quite a number of things that will bring honour and respect to the country.

“You know I fight corruption and issues of waste. I’ve dealt with issues of law and order.

“Of course, what we’re talking about, rigging elections, cannot take place under my watch. The parties will function as parties. Things will be done properly. There are quite a number of things that can be done here properly, and we will focus on our priorities.

“One, to unite the country. The country is not united today. Two, to secure the country. Three, to ensure that we prioritise critical areas of development, health, education and pulling people out of poverty,” he said.
