2027: NDC will not withdraw candidates for ADC – Kwankwaso

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that his Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket will remain in the 2027 presidential race.
Kwankwaso, who is the NDC vice-presidential candidate alongside Peter Obi, said there was no reason for the party to step aside for the ADC or any other political platform.
He made this statement on Sunday while responding to claims surrounding the NDC ticket and its chances in the forthcoming election.
The former Kano State governor accused the ADC Presidential Campaign Council of concentrating on attacks against him, Obi and the NDC rather than persuading Nigerians to support its own candidate.
He also rejected suggestions that the NDC candidates were working with the APC or would withdraw their ticket to support the ADC as the election approached.
“We will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party,” Kwankwaso declared.
He maintained that the NDC was pursuing its own political ambition and had no plan to work for the ruling party.
“The NDC ticket is neither working for nor acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates. We see no possibility or reason to withdraw from the presidential race in favour of the ADC candidate or any other,” he said.
Kwankwaso further challenged the ADC campaign council to respond to allegations raised by Vice-President Kashim Shettima against its presidential candidate, instead of directing its criticism at the NDC leadership.
He argued that the ADC had not demonstrated how it would offer Nigerians a better option than the APC-led administration, which he accused of failing the country.
“The APC-led government has failed Nigerians, and the ADC offers no better alternative,” he said.
The NDC candidate said his party's ticket had the capacity to bring Nigerians together and tackle pressing national issues, including insecurity, poor access to education and healthcare, agricultural challenges, infrastructure deficits and economic difficulties.
He urged party supporters and other Nigerians who shared the party's vision to intensify their efforts towards securing victory in 2027.
Kwankwaso described the NDC as a strong opposition platform and called on its supporters to remain committed to its electoral campaign.
