AFCON 2027Q: Super Eagles may host Tanzania at Teslim Balogun Stadium

Nigeria’s Super Eagles could host Tanzania at the newly renovated Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos in their next home fixture of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Lagos-owned stadium recently underwent renovation ahead of the National Intermediate Games.

According to BSN Sports, the venue is being considered as a potential home ground for the Super Eagles, starting with their Matchday Three encounter against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.

However, the proposed move will depend on approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The Super Eagles have played most of their recent home matches at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Currently, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne, and Moshood Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta are among the few venues in Nigeria approved by CAF to host international matches.

The possible return of the three-time African champions to Lagos would offer fans in the commercial capital an opportunity to watch the Super Eagles on home soil, provided the stadium receives the necessary approval.
