CAF Champions League: Rangers petition CAF over MC Alger fans' poor conduct

Rangers have formally petitioned the Confederation of African Football, CAF, following crowd incidents during their CAF Champions League encounter against Algerian club MC Alger in Abeokuta.
The Flying Antelope confirmed that the petition followed incidents involving visiting supporters during and after the first leg of their second preliminary-round encounter at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena on Sunday.
The Enugu-based club raised concerns over the reported destruction of a stadium entrance gate, unauthorised entry without payment of gate fees, vandalisation of stadium seats and other acts of disorder.
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions called for urgent intervention by CAF ahead of the return leg scheduled for Friday, October 23, in Algiers.
Rangers claimed a 2-0 victory over MC Alger in the first leg.
“Rangers remain committed to fair play, respect for football regulations and the safety of players, officials, supporters and all stakeholders,” the club said in a statement.
“In its petition, Rangers have raised concerns regarding the reported destruction of a stadium entrance gate, unauthorised entry without payment of gate fees, vandalisation of stadium seats and other acts of disorder.”
