National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has announced that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to upload and utilise the party’s modified digital logo.
Dickson disclosed this in a statement shared on his Facebook page, saying the court, presided over by Justice J. O. Abdulmalik, granted the prayers of the party in a suit filed against INEC over the logo.
According to him, the NDC had approved and forwarded its modified logo to the electoral body after its first National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
He said INEC initially uploaded the modified logo but later removed it without communicating any reason to the party, insisting on using the old association logo with which the party was originally registered.
Dickson said the party sought legal redress after efforts to resolve the matter with INEC failed.
He commended the judiciary for directing INEC to “forthwith upload and utilise” the modified digital logo, describing the judgment as a confirmation of the party’s position.
The NDC leader urged all party candidates and members to immediately adopt the approved logo in campaign materials, including banners, posters and other publicity materials.
He acknowledged that some candidates may have already produced materials using the former logo, but said they should now transition to the constitutionally approved design.
Dickson assured party members that there was no reason for panic, adding that the party had experienced leaders capable of handling its affairs.
He said the NDC would issue further communication to guide members and candidates on the use of the approved logo ahead of the 2027 general election.
