Go sort out your internal mess, stop blaming us – APC slams ADC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has told the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to go and sort out its internal mess and stop blaming the APC for its problems in court.

The APC said this in a press statement signed on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

The statement was a direct reply to the ADC after the Federal High Court in Abuja sacked the David Mark-led leadership of the party and nullified all its actions, including the primary that produced Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.

The ADC had accused the APC of colluding with the judiciary to get the judgment.

The APC said that accusation is senseless.

According to the party, every time a court decides against the Mark-led faction of the ADC, they accuse the APC of collusion and abuse the judiciary.

It said that the ADC wants to win power and govern Nigeria without any regard for the authority and independence of the judiciary, which is an indispensable pillar of any democracy.

The ruling party said it is only courts and judges that side with them that are worthy, while those that rule differently are a menace to society.

The party said the case that sent the ADC into a tailspin was filed by ADC leaders against ADC pirate leaders, adding that it was neither a party nor an interlocutor in the matter.

It said the case came from ADC national officers who were victimised by what it called the bare-faced heist of the party leadership by David Mark and his co-pirates to satisfy Atiku Abubakar's presidential ambition.

The APC said Mark and his group did not care that their takeover of the party was in flagrant violation of the rule of law and the ADC's internal democracy, as a court has now declared.

It said they are now lashing out in rage at the court and innocent spectators for a judicial outcome that was the inevitable consequence of their reckless political misadventure.

"They rave and rant senselessly, peddle conspiracy theories, but take no responsibility or accountability for the self-inflicted injury that the court only judicially certified," the APC said.

The party said the judgment by Justice Peter Lifu, which sacked the Mark-led leadership and nullified its primary election processes and outcomes, was procured by their own lawlessness. It said the judgment shows the vibrancy of the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary in Nigeria.

The APC told the ADC that if it is dissatisfied with the decision, it should go to the Court of Appeal instead of engaging in partisan mudslinging against the APC and issuing threats to incite anarchy against the same Nigerians they claim they want to govern.

It described the ADC as a decrepit party that continues to prove itself as grossly unfit to be taken seriously by Nigerians.

"A party that cannot fix itself cannot possibly fix Africa's most important country," the APC said.

The party said it and the Tinubu administration remain committed to preserving Nigeria's democracy, upholding the rule of law, and delivering good governance to all Nigerians, and are unfazed by the wolf cries of a drowning opposition.
