A former Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan zonal station, Mrs Bolatito Joseph, has warned women journalists against abandoning their family responsibilities for their careers.
Joseph gave this warning while delivering a lecture titled "Beyond the Byline: Strategic Integration of Professional Excellence and Family Dynamics for the Contemporary Woman Journalist."
The event, christened the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Day celebration, was part of activities for the 60th anniversary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State council.
Mrs Joseph, while addressing the gathering, called on women journalists to uphold professionalism, tasking them with conscious efforts to maintain a healthy balance between their careers and family responsibilities.
"Women journalists face numerous challenges in balancing their professional ambitions with family responsibilities; maintain a healthy balance between your career and family, she advised."
NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs Omolola Alamu, in her remarks, described the anniversary as a celebration of the union's legacy, urging her colleagues to strive for a healthy work-life balance.
The NUJ Chairman, Mr Akeem Abas, in his contribution, explained that the history of journalism in Oyo State and the country in general will be incomplete without recognising the role of women journalists.
