A man in his 30s has died after suffering serious head injuries at an address in Poynders Road, Clapham, Lambeth, South London with police launching a murder investigation following his death.
Police were called by the London Fire Brigade at around 08:35pm on Friday, 4 September. Officers attended the address in Poynders Road, SW4, alongside the London Ambulance Service, where they found the man suffering from serious head injuries.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, said detectives were working to establish exactly what happened.
“This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones as they come to terms with their loss,” she said. “We are working hard to establish exactly what happened and a team of detectives is progressing a number of enquiries at pace.”
Police believe the incident was isolated and said there is currently no evidence to suggest any wider risk to the public. No arrests have been made at this stage.
DCI Foxwell urged anyone who was in the area, or who may have seen or heard anything unusual, to contact police.
