Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan receives PDP certificate for 2027 el

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Wednesday received her Certificate of Return as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District, formally confirming her candidacy for the 2027 election.

The certificate was presented during a ceremony attended by the PDP National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed; National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; and other party candidates.

Speaking shortly after receiving the certificate, Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed gratitude to the party leadership, delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in her, describing the development as a call to greater service and responsibility.

She said, “This Certificate of Return is not just a document; it is a symbol of the trust and confidence that our party members and the people have placed in me. I accept it with humility, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to serve.”

The lawmaker, who currently represents Kogi Central Senatorial District in the Senate, reaffirmed her commitment to effective representation, good governance and policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.

She said, “The PDP remains a platform of hope for millions of Nigerians. We must continue to stand together, engage our communities, and work tirelessly to earn the trust and confidence of the people.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan also stressed the need for unity within the opposition party, urging members and supporters to remain focused on the collective goal of delivering responsive and people-oriented leadership.

“Our responsibility as leaders and candidates is to inspire confidence through service, integrity, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of our people”, she stated.

She further called for issue-based campaigns and sustained grassroots engagement, noting that Nigerians expect leaders who will prioritise development, justice, accountability and economic opportunities.

The senator said the party must continue to strengthen its engagement with citizens and demonstrate its readiness to address the country’s social and economic challenges through people-centred policies.

The presentation of the certificate of return signals the formal commencement of a renewed campaign effort by Akpoti-Uduaghan as she seeks to consolidate support across Kogi Central ahead of the election.

With her candidacy officially confirmed, the senator is expected to intensify consultations with stakeholders, party leaders and constituents while advancing her message of unity, service and inclusive development.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, a lawyer and politician, first gained national prominence through her advocacy for transparency and accountability in governance.

She has remained one of the leading political figures in Kogi State and has consistently championed issues relating to infrastructure development, education, women empowerment and social justice.

Her emergence as the PDP candidate is expected to set the stage for another keenly contested senatorial race in Kogi Central, a district regarded as one of the state’s most politically significant constituencies.
