NPFL: Enyimba snap barrren streak as Rangers secure top spot
Enyimba secured their first victory of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, season with a commanding 4-2 win over Shooting Stars.
Richard Ezinna opened the scoring in the fourth minute after a defensive mix-up in the Shooting Stars backline.
The hosts doubled their advantage in the 28th minute when Chibueze Damian fired home a long-range effort.
Enyimba continued to dominate and were rewarded with a third goal nine minutes before the break, as Odinaka Obichere set up Idris Abubakar to score.
Ifeanyi Ihemekwele added a fourth four minutes into the second half to put the result beyond doubt.
Shooting Stars pulled one back through substitute Mustapha Adams Agba’a in the 76th minute, while Johnmark Aule scored another for the visitors in added time.
In Ozoro, Rangers claimed a 1-0 victory over their hosts Warri Wolves to secure top spot.
Godwin Obaje fired home the winning goal from the penalty in the 11th minute.
