PANDEF demands 50% of crude oil revenue for Nigeria’s oil-producing states from FAAC

The Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, has demanded an increase in the derivation allocation to oil-producing states in Nigeria from the current 13 per cent to 50 per cent of revenue distributed by the Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC.

Godknows Igali, PANDEF’s national chairman and a former Nigerian ambassador to Sweden, Denmark and Norway, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday following a meeting in Abuja.

The prominent Niger Delta group also called for the abolition of the onshore-offshore dichotomy in revenue allocation.

According to PANDEF, the 13 per cent derivation principle was enshrined in the 1999 Constitution following years of agitation by oil-producing states for a greater share of revenue from natural resources.

The group said the demand had become necessary to address longstanding developmental challenges in the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

“PANDEF therefore calls for an increase in the derivation allocation from the current minimum of 13 per cent to a minimum of 50 per cent, to enable oil-producing communities and states to address the longstanding developmental deficits, environmental damage, health hazards and social and economic consequences of oil and gas exploration and production,” PANDEF stated.

DAILY POST reports that while the three tiers of government shared N2.428 trillion in revenue for September 2026, oil-producing states received an additional N236.049 billion as their 13 per cent derivation allocation.
