PDP expels two members in Gombe

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has expelled two of its chieftains in Gombe State, Hon. Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki and Hon. Usman Aliyu Garry, over alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct.
The party said the decision followed disciplinary proceedings and the recommendations of its Disciplinary Committee, which found the two members guilty of offences against its constitution.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, announced the expulsion in a statement.
He said the allegations against Mailantarki and Garry fell under Sections 58(1)(a), (b), (h) and (j) of the party's 2017 amended constitution, which cover misconduct and actions considered harmful to the party.
“The disciplinary process complied with the right to fair hearing as provided under Section 57(6) of the party’s constitution and Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution. In line with Section 59(1)(j) of our constitution, the two members have ceased to belong to the party and are no longer entitled to any membership rights or privileges.
“No member, regardless of status, is above the party’s laws and disciplinary framework.”
He also maintained that its constitution remained binding on all members, irrespective of their positions or influence within the party.
The PDP urged its members to remain loyal, disciplined and committed to its principles, calling on them to work together to strengthen the party.
