Peter Obi breaks silence, reveals reason for Benue visit after attack on convoy

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has revealed his reason for going to Benue State.

He spoke just after thugs attacked his convoy as he was entering the state.

Speaking after the incident, Obi decried the state of Nigerian politics, clarifying that his presence in the state was strictly humanitarian rather than campaign-driven.

“I am in Benue today not for campaigns. I only wanted to go to a place where people lost their lives, to condole and show solidarity with them,” Obi stated.

“You can see the level to which our politics has degenerated. That was why yesterday, while joining the APM candidate in launching his office, I used the opportunity to plead with our people, let our next politics be a politics of unity.”
