So-Safe Corps arrests three suspected cultists, recovers firearm in Ogun
Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) on Sunday arrested three suspected cult members and recovered a firearm in Ijagun town, Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, simply identified as Samuel, Dapo and Favour, were arrested at about 4 p.m. at Emmanuel Villa, Abapawa, Ijagun.
According to the State Commander of the Corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, in a statement issued through the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the arrest followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected cultists in the area.
According to him, operatives moved to the location and carried out a security operation that led to the arrest of the three suspects. One firearm was recovered from them during the operation and secured as an exhibit.
“Following their arrest, the three suspects were taken into custody and subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba, for further investigation, interrogation and other necessary legal action.
“The recovered firearm was also handed over to the police as an exhibit in connection with the case,” the statement added.
Ganzallo commended the operatives for their prompt, intelligence-led response and reiterated the Corps’ commitment to tackling cultism and armed criminal activities in the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information on suspicious movements, cult activities and illegal possession of firearms in their communities.
