Hollywood actor and television host Nick Cannon has opened up regarding his mental health, revealing that he was diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD).
The actor, while speaking about the diagnosis, shared his thoughts on narcissism, stating that he does not view narcissism negatively.
Cannon explained that many successful and admired people possess the trait, adding that their belief in themselves contributed to their achievements.
“I’ve been diagnosed with NPD. That’s narcissistic personality disorder. And they make you take hours and hours of tests. It’s over a period of time of like three months before they can determine if you have narcissistic personality disorder. I necessarily, as a narcissist, don’t think that’s a bad thing. There’s a lot of narcissists in this world that we all love and this world wouldn’t be this world if it wasn’t for these narcissists. You wouldn’t have your iPhone if it wasn’t for a man named Steve Jobs. I believe Beyonce is a narcissist. You understand? She’s the most amazing performer we’ve ever seen. Michael Jackson is a narcissist. Michael Jordan is a narcissist,” he stated.
Cannon added that he believes such traits makes some people amazing, stating that there is nothing wrong with being a narcissist.
“And all of these people are amazing because they believe and love themselves. So as a fellow narcissist, there’s nothing wrong with being a narcissist,” he added.
