President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address the nation at 7am on Thursday, October 1, 2026, as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence anniversary.
The planned national broadcast was announced on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, television and radio stations, as well as other electronic media outlets, are expected to join the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the address.
The broadcast will form part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th anniversary of independence.
The statement did not disclose the specific issues the President will address during the broadcast.
Nigeria became independent from British colonial rule on October 1, 1960.
