Transfer deadline: Monaco chief explains why Camara’s Chelsea move collapsed

Monaco Sporting Director, Thiago Scuro, has explained why midfielder Lamine Camara’s move to Chelsea on transfer deadline day collapsed.

Chelsea had already agreed on a six-year deal for Camara to move to Stamford Bridge from Monaco.

The Senegal international was undergoing his medical examinations at a private clinic when he was abruptly informed that the £47million deal would no longer be going ahead.

This comes after his teammate Folarin Balogun’s move to Everton from Monaco collapsed.

Speaking on the development, Scuro said during a press conference in the Principality on Wednesday that Camara didn’t join Chelsea because it was Monaco’s top priority to keep him at the French Ligue 1 club.

“To talk about Lamine, we have been approached by several clubs during the summer.

“The message has always been the same: our priority is that he stays,” Scuro said as quoted by Football London.
