Troops rescue seven kidnapped victims along Katsina road
Troops of 17 Brigade, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police, have rescued seven kidnapped victims along the Dayi–Malumfashi road in Katsina State.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the rescue operation was conducted at about 11:45 p.m. on September 21, 2026, when security forces intercepted a green-coloured Volkswagen Golf 3 with registration number Kano BCH-528ZY, conveying the victims.
The report stated that the rescued persons comprised six females, reportedly students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, and the vehicle’s driver, identified as Sani Umar.
It added that the victims were rescued during ongoing security operations along the route, while efforts were continuing to ensure their safety and establish the circumstances surrounding their abduction.
According to the security analyst, “Military sources said the troops remain on high alert and have maintained strong operational readiness across the area.”
The report noted that the rescue came amid sustained security operations along major routes in Katsina State aimed at preventing kidnapping and other criminal activities.
