Turkey: Osimhen scores again as Galatasaray floor Istanbul Başakşehir
Victor Osimhen continued his red-hot start to the season as Galatasaray survived a late scare to beat Istanbul Başakşehir 3-2 in a thrilling Turkish Super Lig clash on Friday.
The striker wasted little time making his mark, firing the champions ahead in the 13th minute after being picked out by Lucas Torreira.
It was Osimhen’s sixth league goal in just four appearances, extending his remarkable scoring streak to four consecutive matches.
Galatasaray’s joy was, however, tempered by an injury scare.
Osimhen went down in discomfort and required treatment before being forced off in the 33rd minute.
Barış Alper Yılmaz replaced the Nigerian as Galatasaray were dealt an early blow despite holding the lead.
Başakşehir eventually dragged themselves back into the contest through Eldor Shomurodov in the 66th minute.
Torreira restored Galatasaray’s advantage five minutes later, but the drama was far from over.
Davinson Sánchez accidentally turned the ball into his own net to make it 2-2 and set up a frantic finish.
Just when the points appeared destined to be shared, Gabriel Sara struck in the 90th minute to snatch a dramatic victory for Galatasaray.
