“For the avoidance of doubt, INEC has issued no such reaffirmation,” the commission stated.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disowned a social media publication claiming that it had reaffirmed the Senator David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the circulating poster as fake.

The commission, in a statement issued on Friday, said it did not authorise the publication, which featured its official logo and the photograph of National Commissioner, Mohammed Haruna.

INEC clarified that it had not issued any statement reaffirming the leadership of the former Senate President, warning members of the public against relying on the circulating information.

“For the avoidance of doubt, INEC has issued no such reaffirmation,” the commission stated.

It also condemned the unauthorised use of its identity and the image of its National Commissioner in the publication.

The clarification comes amid the leadership crisis rocking the ADC following a Federal High Court judgment in Abuja which nullified the emergence of the David Mark-led executive and invalidated actions taken by the leadership, including the process that produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

INEC urged Nigerians to disregard the fake publication and obtain information about its activities only through its official and verified communication channels.
