Why I’m aspiring for House of Reps seat – Dr Oyedeji

The House of Representatives candidate under Allied People Movement (APM) in Osun State, Dr Wale Oyedeji, has revealed the reason he is aspiring to represent the Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency in 2027.
Oyedeji said the Nigerian democracy hasn’t produced the desired dividends because politicians of the old stock have been recycling themselves, saying the country need fresh blood with fresh ideas.
He called for injection of fresh ideas and greater youth participation in governance to accelerate development.
Oyedeji, who is a lecturer at the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, said this while appearing on the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) guest platform on Tuesday in Osogbo.
He said that the responsibility of transforming any society rest largely on youths who had greater stakes in the future.
According to him, the role of the media in shaping public discourse, setting the narrative right and promoting development can not be overemphasised.
“There is need to inject fresh minds and ideas into the political system to bring about meaningful transformation.
“We are bridging the gap to address every challenge when I come on board, and the media will have to do more in this regard,” he said.
The aspirant said no society could grow without investors, stressing the need to create an environment conducive to investment and business growth.
He highlighted some challenges facing his constituency as a priority, adding that he would work to bridge existing gaps if elected.
Oyedeji pledged to support legislation that would empower relevant stakeholders to contribute meaningfully to the development of the constituency.
He said such legislative measures would help to change the narrative and create opportunities for sustainable growth.
Speaking on the cultural interpretation of leadership, Oyedeji said there was a need to institutionalise ideas and practices capable of promoting effective governance and societal development.
Dr. Oyedeji also said if elected he would ensure traders, farmers and students in his constituency are given priority.
He urged stakeholders, particularly the media and youths, to play active roles in building a society where ideas, innovation and inclusive governance could thrive.
