Edochie also claimed that people are usually ok with being without their phones when meeting with esteemed people or leaders but find it hard to do away with their phones while in church.

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has openly criticized the growing habit of using mobile phones during church sermons.

The actor, in a passionate take on modern worship, expressed his dismay over how easily distracted congregations have become.

According to him, texting, browsing, or recording videos while a pastor is preaching shows a total lack of respect for God and the sacredness of the altar.

Edochie also claimed that people are usually ok with being without their phones when meeting with esteemed people or leaders but find it hard to do away with their phones while in church. He urged them to be more respectful towards spiritual things.

”It’s sad seeing people who go to church and be pressing their phones inside the church while mass or service is going on.
You mean you can’t stay off your phone for an hour in respect to God? If you go to see a Governor or President, your
phones will be taken from you for hours and you’ll be ok with it. But while you’re in the presence of our Creator, you can’t put off your phone and listen to His word?. Really sad,” he said.
