Zulum meets COAS over security, restoration of normalcy in Borno


Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, met on Tuesday with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja to discuss security and the restoration of normalcy in the state.

The meeting was held behind closed doors, and details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed.

The engagement focused on security operations in Borno and efforts to sustain progress in the fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, as well as the restoration of affected communities.

Security agencies have continued offensive operations against terrorist elements in different parts of Borno, targeting their networks, logistics and freedom of movement.

Zulum’s meeting with the Army leadership comes amid ongoing efforts to improve security and create conditions for the return of displaced residents and the resumption of socio-economic activities in affected communities.

The governor was accompanied by the Senator representing Borno South, Mohammed Ali Ndume; member representing Kukawa, Mobbar, Guzamala and Abadam Federal Constituency, Malam Gana Bukar Kareto; Commissioner for Finance, Lawan Umar Dalorima; and Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Maina Yaumi.
