President Bola Tinubu has criticised opposition presidential candidates Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, questioning their leadership credentials and accusing Obi of failing to tackle erosion in Anambra State.

Tinubu spoke on Friday while unveiling projects in Akwa Ibom State, where he contrasted Obi’s record on erosion with his own intervention against coastal erosion and Governor Umo Eno’s efforts to address the problem in the state.

The President accused Obi, whom he identified as the presidential candidate of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), of running away from the erosion challenge in Anambra.

“One, who said he is in one party they call NDC, who is running for president. He ran away from erosion. In Anambra State, he could not confront erosion.

“I, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I confronted the Atlantic Ocean. I claim it for you. Umo Eno confronted the erosion in Akwa Ibom and is working for, he is stable,” Tinubu said.

He also took aim at Atiku, questioning his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The President accused the former vice-president of abandoning the PDP after years of political association with the party, describing his political movement as inconsistent with the qualities expected of a leader.

“If a man that was, once upon a time, was a baby of PDP, became a father of PDP. And because of a little inconvenience, he ran away from that party. And formed a dangerous ADC in another party. Is that a leadership trait? Is that a leadership character? And he wants you to vote for him?” He said.
