NSCDC arrests suspected car thieves, robbers, recovers stolen vehicles, AK-47 in Abuja
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has paraded several suspects arrested for alleged involvement in car theft, armed robbery, cable vandalism, theft of agricultural infrastructure and other criminal activities within the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and neighbouring states.
The suspects were presented at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja following a series of intelligence-led operations carried out by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad.
Among those arrested was Adam Yusuf, who was identified by the NSCDC as a suspected member of a car-snatching syndicate operating across multiple states.
According to the Corps, Yusuf was apprehended under the Mpape Flyover while allegedly attempting to deliver a stolen Toyota Camry.
The NSCDC also disclosed that an AK-47 rifle, 16 rounds of ammunition and N70,000 were recovered from suspects linked to an armed robbery operation.
Other suspects paraded included alleged cable vandals and a man accused of stealing 15 tractor batteries.
The Corps said the arrests formed part of its ongoing intelligence-driven operations aimed at curbing criminal activities and safeguarding lives and property.
Meanwhile, the NSCDC announced the rescue of Micaiah Nana, the last of 16 children allegedly trafficked by one Archibong Anderson.
The child was rescued in Kwali Area Council of the FCT, while the alleged buyers have been taken into custody and are assisting with investigations.
