NSCDC uncover illegal diesel refinery, arrest five suspects in Kano

An illegal diesel refinery in Panisu, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State, has been uncovered by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
The NSCDC also arrested five suspects in connection with the illegal diesel refinery.
The suspects arrested are Ibrahim Bello, 28; Musbahu Adam, 38; Rabiu Dahiru, 27; Haruna Kabiru, 26; and Sunusi Ahmad, 25.
The NSCDC's spokesman in Kano, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, stated in a statement on Friday that operatives from different units of the command carried out the raid.
He said, "The suspects were allegedly involved in operating an unregistered petroleum and gas business without the required authorisation."
The spokesman said the facility had been sealed, while investigations were ongoing to establish the full extent of the alleged activities.
The State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, said the operation was part of efforts to combat economic sabotage, protect the environment and enforce regulations governing petroleum and gas operations.
He warned that illegal refining posed serious risks to public health and the environment, and urged residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The command said anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
