The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, has sanctioned Inter Lagos following security breaches during their Matchday 7 game against Katsina United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Sunday.
The league body said Inter Lagos failed to provide adequate security for the match, allowing unauthorised persons to enter restricted areas.
The breach reportedly led to an attack on match officials as they left the dressing room and headed to their vehicle after the game.
Following the incident, the NPFL fined Inter Lagos N5.2 million.
The club will also have three points and three goals deducted from its accumulated points and goal tally for assaulting and injuring the first assistant referee.
The NPFL said Inter Lagos has 48 hours from the date of the notice to appeal the sanction.
