Nollywood actress Lola Idije has spoken against the practice of pressuring women to marry early, stressing that some women and men are destined to get married at 40 or 50.

The actress, while speaking during an appearance on the Africanlist Podcast, defended women who shoulder the responsibility of raising their children alone.

Lola explained that some women become single mothers because of circumstances beyond their control, insisting that not having a husband does not mean a woman is irresponsible.

She also questioned the practice of pressuring young ladies to tie the knot, stating that such pressures could lead to them choosing the wrong partners.

“Not everybody will have a husband to help them raise their children. So women have to carry their burden alone. Not all of them choose that life. But if you start pressuring them at 20, how can you be sure that they won’t marry the wrong person?. When women start giving birth, they become softer,” she stated.
